An Untapped Resource

Masonboro inlet is a hidden gem for nearshore coastal diving. Not only is it stunningly beautiful and teeming with dozens of marine species, it is a fantastic introduction to the underwater world and is great for spearfishing and sightseeing alike. Our unique snuba (surface supplied air) experience is the only of its kind in Wrightsville Beach and allows for hours of bottom time without heavy and cumbersome dive gear.

For those looking to head further offshore, endless adventure awaits. Known as the “graveyard of the Atlantic”, our stretch of coastline is full of shipwrecks and artificial reefs starting at just 3 miles off the beach. Protruding off the tip of the Cape Fear River, the Frying Pan Shoal is a world renowned dive destination and even has a decommissioned Coast Guard station that has been converted into a B&B accessible only by boat or helicopter! Exploring The Graveyard Of The Atlantic

Check out just a couple of the many shipwrecks dotting our coast. The Alexander Ramsey (AR370) was a World War 2 Liberty Ship. Measuring over 400 ft long and just 3 miles off the coast of Wrightsville Beach, it is home to thousands of fish and other marine life. The Hyde (AR386) was a dredge that was outfitted with guns and saw action on the Pacific during World War 2. The Hyde is world famous for being home to exceptionally large Sand Tiger Sharks in the summer.
